The first site,, assists patients with tick-borne illness(es) by providing computer support for those who wish to keep a daily journal their TBI symptoms and treatments. Journal entries can easily be converted into charts, calendars and reports which can be used for self analysis or clinician discussion. is confidential and without cost to users, intended to help patients, and those caring for them, manage health issues stemming from a tick borne infection (TBI).

Although there are different opinions on the prevalence, diagnostic criteria, treatment and outcomes of TBIs, there is a concern common to all.  Patients, clinicians and public health workers, all ask “How do we keep people from becoming infected in the first place?” As we researched this question we learned the following:

Most cases of Lyme disease result from performing routine activities,

Personal protection techniques are poorly accepted, and prone to frequent failure,

And, there is a new approach to personal protection; a new technology developed by Insect Shield®.

Insect Shield® uses a proprietary process to bond permethrin to garment fibers and create a very long lasting insect repellent finish. Treated clothing effectively repels ticks, mosquitoes, chiggers, flies and no-see-ums. It has been demonstrated to be effective thru 70 launderings and has a shelf life of at least 10 years. It was first applied to deployed Army uniforms in 2003 and is currently applied to all Army and deployed Marine uniforms and is available on civilian garments thru a few higher end specialty retailers. makes Insect Shield treated garments available in the wardrobe of suburban and country property residents and visitors.  We offer the backyard basics: jeans, sweatshirts, Tees, socks, etc.

Insect Shield changes how we approach personal protection.  It’s no longer something you apply when you plan to encounter nature, it is something you slip on in the morning and which stays with you regardless of how long your day lasts or where it takes you. provides clothing options which will make personal protection your new normal.

Pretreated permethrin clothing is recommended by at least one major public health department, Fairfax (VA) County Health Department, and favorably assessed by the Environmental Protection Agency.  Published research supports its efficacy.

Proceeds of are used to continue operation and further development of to assist those with tick-borne illnesses.
